Please visit www.promotemachinery.com to have a look now.
It is a short working week here in the UK with the Easter break coming up (Good Friday and bank holiday Monday off for some lucky people!).
Did you know? That the first eggs given at Easter many years ago were birds eggs painted in bright colours to symbolise new life. There is an Anglo Saxon legend about a goddess called Eostre who found a dying bird and changed it in to a hare so it could survive the winter, the hare found it could lay eggs and every Spring decorated eggs and left them for the Goddess as a gift. I wonder if this where the Easter bunny came from?
Oh well, that 'Did you know' is nothing to do with a noisy machine work shop but if you get on the who wants to be a millionaire TV program and the million pound question is 'who is Eostre?' then hopefully you will thank us!
Have a great week!

Did you know? We spoke in this blog earlier about who invented the CNC machine but do you know who invented the water jet cutter? We know the last thing you want is a 'War and Peace' history lesson but just in case you happen to be on who wants to be a millionaire and the million pound, or dollar, or Euro or yen depending upon where you are is this exact question then in brief:
Once upon a time there was this German guy called Norman Franz who worked in the forrestry business and in the 1950's he played around and experimented with a water jet machine used for cutting timber but it was not until the 1970's that this other guy came along called Mohamed Hashish and he further developed the idea of the water jet but adding abrasives to the mix thus making a far more powerful tool. Well, so now you know.
Oh well, that is the weekend almost finished so have a great start to the new week and we hope business keeps very busy for you!
And please do not forget if you have some old (or almost new) machine tools then release some money by visiting www.promotemachinery.com NOW!

The process of Automatic bidding is designed to make the bidding in an Auction more convenient so that you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time someone places another bid.
Why not visit our site now to have a look!
The moderns CNC machine of today came about thanks to a man called John T.Parsons who after the second world war was involved in the manufacture of helicopter blades. Because these rotor blades needed precise machining he worked out that an early IBM computer could produce very accurate contour guides. Due to this success the air force offered him a contact to design a machine to automatically cut contours to manufacture wing sections for planes. The machine was very big and expensive but did a great job using a card reader and servo controls. It would not be until the start of the 60's that this new breed of machine would become more affordable thus allowing it to be used in a range of industries. That's the end of todays history lesson folks!

DID you Know? The first metal working lathe was invented in 1800 by a man called Henry Maudslay and boy have they come a long way since then, this was a pretty basic machine which was used with a lot of wheel and crank turning. The first milling machine that came nearly twenty years later thanks to a man called Eli Whitney still needed plenty of sweat and elbow grease to use. Due to the fact that it required the user to adjust the machines flywheel to make each part then the chances of getting identical parts made was like winning the lottery except they did not have the lottery back then, or did they?
